Hardworking. Dedicated. Adaptable. Ambitious. Eager. Resourceful. Responsible. Persistent. Diligent. Adventurous. Collaborative. Creative. These are all words that I would use to describe my students.
I teach 170 of the most captivating, diverse students you can possibly imagine, students of all levels, from special needs to gifted and talented, with myriad ethnic and financial backgrounds.
These young people spark a Marie Kondo level of joy in my life that I just cannot explain with simple words. I want nothing more than to teach them the most engaging Texas History lessons possible with the resources that they deserve.
My Project
Oh, the joys of middle school! Sometimes, it's really tough to keep all of my lessons engaging enough to keep the attention of a classroom full of twelve-year-olds that are glued to gaming consoles when they get home.
BUT, what if we could gamify our classroom lessons?
With the help of Gimkit, Quizizz, Nearpod, digital breakout rooms, and other educational technology platforms, we can. My students beg me for digital games to help them learn difficult curriculum... because it makes learning fun!
Campus-wide, classrooms at my school only have a handful of chromebook carts to check out. While having access to some technology is awesome, with this Dell chromebook we would be able to integrate gamification more often. While a lot of students have cell phones, I would be able to give students who do not them an option. Having a chromebook in the room will give us the ability to plan more activities that improve student engagement.
