Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students have a range of disabilities such as Autism, physical, emotional or developmental disabilities, developmental delays and learning disabilities. Our school is located in a high poverty area and is home to two special education preschool classes. There are also other special education students in grades TK through 5th.
My students have severe disabilities and require a variety of media and materials to increase interest and engagement.
They come to school ready to learn and do their best, but they require a lot of support and materials to engage in tasks.
My Project
Matching letters and numbers can be trying for my students., They think playing matching games is much more fun, and they don't notice that they are working a lot harder on the same skills!
How much fun is it to recreate designs and pictures?
Looking at a picture and deciding what shapes are needed to make the same or creating a marble run by matching the parts from a picture involve visual perception skills in action! Creating activities that engage my students and keep them motivated to work on challenging things is key for continued progress.
