My students need rich learning opportunities which include satisfying their competitive urges, increasing the desire to master new skills and concepts, such as number recognition, counting, letter recognition, reading, hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
We are a border town inner city school in Arizona where 93% of our students are free/reduced lunches. We are a Title I, "C" graded kindergarten through eighth elementary school. The majority of our students are English Language Learners and come from single parent homes.
My students have a love for learning and need modified methods of learning.
Introducing board games to my students will assist them with following directions, sportsmanship, reading, and math skills. Some board games that will challenge my students' abilities include Charades for Kids, Candy Land, Chutes and Ladders, Scrabble, and Connect Four.
My Project
My students are English Language Learners and need modified methods of learning. According to the National Association for the Education of Young Children, board games have been found to enhance children's academic skills and brain power.
The board games will teach my students to follow rules, focus, take turns, defer gratification which helps with self regulation, the process of problem solving and thinking creatively.
All of my students will receive lessons in decision making, consequences, and strategic thinking.
The Time and Money Board Game is needed to increase my students' mastery of identifying coins to be able to purchase items. This game will also increase their practice identifying the time which is needed as a life-long skill.
