My students need hands-on materials such as stamps and academic games to increase their language arts skills that can be used as individual or group work.
"You're braver than you believe, and stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think," from the silly old bear, Winnie the Pooh. My students need to see to believe it and these hands on materials will help promote them into thinking this way.
I have a classroom of 20 First Grade students located on an Indian Reservation in Western Montana.
Our school is a K-12 school and we are always in need of extra support for our students. My students are active and enjoy tasks that keep their hands and minds moving and thinking. As, teachers, we try to make school as interesting and imaginative as we can in order to create an environment our students will flourish.
My Project
For my students, I am requesting hands-on stamping materials so they will be able to create words in a kinesthetic way. Along with letter stamps, I included stamps of missing letter words, vowel combinations, and beginning sound blends. My students would also benefit from the language arts games that come in various levels to accommodate my students.
Our school is facing budget issues as are many districts in our area.
These resources would allow for growth and support of the language arts curriculum and the Common Core while also engaging my students' curiosity.
