My Project

The use of math games and math literacy books in my classroom will help enhance my students understanding and become motivated to do math. The math games will help my English Language Learners see math in a different way and help them to focus on learning how to do the skill first and then understanding how the math academic language connects to the games they are playing. The games also helps my students with specific math learning disabilities access math in a different way instead of seeing it on paper or in their workbook. The use of the books will help my students connect the math vocabulary with the games they are playing.

When math makes sense to students, their confidence level increases.

My goal is to keep young students motivated and excited about math. Therefore, I will use the toys as prizes to help them keep the love of math going. When you donate to my project, you are helping me to continue fostering the love of math to students who needs to build their confidence and show students math is something they can all do.

My students from grades K-2 have a desire to learn. Some are faced with language challenges while others are faced with learning challenges. I do not want their challenges to defeat them, rather I want them to know despite their challenges, they can still learn. This project is created to help me show them they all can learn using different resources and they can overcome their fear of math.
