Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students are in a self-contained specialized class with classifications of both autism spectrum disorder and intellectual disabilities. They struggle at times with their social skills; typically, my students prefer to use tablets during free time. Recently, they started to play more board games which has helped with increasing their cooperative play skills.
Games like Monopoly Jr.
and Connect Four will give my students more opportunities to seek out and play with their peers. While playing these games, they will be learning turn-taking, following directions, and learning skills.
The puzzles will encourage my students to work on an activity together using problem-solving skills to complete the puzzle. The laminator and laminating sheets will help preserve game materials and student work.
