I teach a 6th grade class of students diagnosed with autism. They attend a specialized inner city school in NY with limited resources. They are in a self contained room consisting of 8 students, 1 teacher, and 1 paraprofessional. The students are on various levels, from non-readers to readers and beginning writers to writers. Due to their diagnosis, they all learn in different ways(IE. visually) and they need multiple ways to complete their assignments. i
