Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

At our school, we foster a community of students who are hardworking, eager to learn, and who take on leadership roles within and beyond the classroom. It has been the joy of my teaching career to support our students as they learn the principles and skills that they must embody to see success in their fields. However, I find that some students can struggle to connect with their peers, or even with me!

Sometimes, as a teacher, it can be easy to focus on what's wrong, but this year, I find myself overjoyed by the focus and enthusiasm that my students have brought into the classroom.

While I can provide my students with homework passes and snacks to celebrate their success, I would love to incentivize my students through video games.

By providing my students with the opportunity to game, I can provide my students with the opportunity to build relationships while they hone their team-building skills. Additionally, I can use video games as an incentive to motivate my students who might not be responsive to food or homework passes. As a kid who was a gamer, I spent so many nights bonding with my family over video games, and I'm confident that through gaming, I can also get to know my students better in a more relaxed, casual environment.
