My students need tennis racquets. There is only one place in our town that carries racquets.

My Students

Our students come from a variety of different economic backgrounds with over 77% of our students receiving free or reduced lunch. Many of my students receive backpack food on the weekend, and our school also runs a food pantry for our families. We also have a high percentage of single family homes and are part of the Foster Care Program. Despite so many hardships, my students are eager to learn and do their best. They want to be in school because they want to learn all they can so they can be successful one day. We service 9th through 12th grade on one campus. We have over 1100. Most of them cannot afford proper equipment to play tennis. I believe our participation would double if we could offer equipment for these students.

My Project

To play at top level, a good racquet is a must! Our students are playing with metal racquets or racquets laying around in the garage where they haven’t been strung in years. I believe with a quality racquet, theses students will be able to complete at a higher level. There is a lot of interest in tennis at our school. A lot of kids do not tryout for the team just because they don’t have a racquet. Providing a racquet to these children can help more learn about the wonderful game of tennis and not be worried because they cannot afford one!
