Help me give my students a gaming computer, monitor and controller to launch our Esports program and expand STEAM skills.

My students are suffering due to the double pandemic: COVID and racism. They are a majority minority with less than 1% of our students identifying as non-minority. The students are caregivers to their siblings, teen parents, English Language Learners, working to help their families, and attending school. With all of these pressures, they still get up and jump online to attend class and get help with their work.
In our building, we believe having access to supplies that we need when we need them is an easy way to boost student engagement.
Since we are an alternative school, our sports program gets very little funding. This means that we have to sometimes wait to get access to the gym, basketballs, and locker rooms. They enjoy the energy that sports creates and it helps them build confidence, creates community, and supports their academic progress towards graduation. Due to the pandemic, all of that has changed and we are finding creative ways to connect with them.
One of the challenges in working with a young adult population is finding engaging programs that will capture their attention for the long haul. We have been fortunate to gain attention, interest, and spark some real enthusiasm with Esports.
This project will give them the computer, monitor and controller needed to get the program up and running and allow for some healthy competition.
We currently have just done the administration parts and the students are eager to actually start playing. The Esports program is more than just playing games. Our students are building leadership skills, engaging in discussions on planning and preparing for competitions, and learning about the gaming process. The program will spend time exploring what it takes to create games and the skills needed to play games.
