Game On! Using Games to Build Winning Attitudes!

My students need games and puzzles that will promote skills in counting and reading but will promote team building and skills in working together to succeed!

My Students

Our students need to learn while they play! We have a few games that promote learning but we would like awesome "complete" games that students can use to build skills in counting, reading, following directions and growing skills to work together to learn skills to become successful team players!

Our school is an incredible place to be each and everyday because we have smiling students at Pajarito!

We have high needs based on socioeconomic factors that limit our resources. I want to provide students in our before and after-school enrichment programs with opportunities to access materials that will motivate them to attend school everyday, build lasting friendships and benefit from materials that expand learning beyond the classroom. Our students love to play games, have friendly competition and work together! We have limited resources due to recent cuts in funding and limitations of what students have access to use during their time at school. Some of our students arrive in our programs as early as 6:45 AM and stay with our school staff until 6:00 PM and my goal is to help make their time at school the best it can be!

My Project

Games are one of the most important and memorable things from childhood; not only because of the game itself but because of the team building, friendships and fun that can be had with games. I remember staying up playing games with family and friends and I didn't even realize how much I was learning! Number skills, problem solving and understanding directions are crucial skills and games that support counting are an awesome tool to use with kids of all ages. Games are items that we can use for years to some and students will continue to benefit from these reusable resources. I want to provide games for all students to help each other learn even with students of various ages who can help one another. Classic games teach so many skills and educational games provide even more extension of academic concepts. I can't wait to enrich the time I have with students on campus to provide excellent game playing opportunities and skill building.

Students spend each and every minute of the day focusing on academics and building proficiency in reading, writing and math.

I hope to build these skills while also letting students have some fun during the out-of-school time hours. Our group of 50 students in our enrichment programs will love games and puzzles to build skills and communication while having some down right fun with each other! Not all kids get to have games and teams to play them with at home. With these new games they can!
