My Students

We live in rural Maine with limited resources and a high level of poverty. The students in our school need to be supported to succeed academically and find how they best learn. I teach junior high level mathematics in a small school. My students enjoy the flexibility of learning in small group environments and with teachers who look after not only their academic needs but their needs as a whole. The more we encourage our students to succeed academically, the more they will thrive throughout their lives.

My Project

There are some great games out there that reinforce math concepts in a way that kids enjoy. These resources would help me be able to expand review and practice in fun ways so the students stay engaged.

Playing is an essential part of learning and growing your mind.

These games will help me build my curriculum and keep my students' interests. Blokus teaches geometric transformations, coding games teach logic, and Smath is a game about mathematical equations. Dice and playing cards have almost endless uses in the math classroom. The more ways I can share math concepts in my classroom the better. If they are fun, well that's a win win.
