My students need 3 SLR cameras,3 external flashes, 3 Memory cards, 3 tripods, a copy of BetterPhoto Basics: The Absolute Beginner's Guide to Taking Photos Like a Pro and 3 SLR camera cases to help them document their progress in their shadowing program.

My Students

My classroom is full of students who are working on social and life skills. These students have the desire to be a part of the community but have little or no experience interacting in the work field.

I am the Special Education teacher for a charter school in the Salt Lake School District.

Our school has a high focus on helping students attend college, but many of my students will join the work force after high school. Most of my students do not have any experience in the work field and have a difficult time with social interactions. My students are hard-working, fun-loving kids who are trying to gain the skills that will help them once they graduate.

My Project

My students have the opportunity to gain experience in the work field by being a part of a shadowing program. They would be using the SLR cameras to help them document their time in the shadowing program and the Memory cards to make sure they have enough room to capture all of the memories. Many of my students have never used cameras before and would need information about the functions of a camera, because of this, they would be studying from the basic photography book to learn the do's and don'ts of photography. The accessories needed to ensure my students are taking quality photos are: tripods to help with blurriness, Flashes to increase lighting, and carrying cases to make sure the cameras are not broken during the process.

The donations for this project will help my students lives by allowing them to document their process in learning and gaining social and life-skills which will help them in their future endeavors.
