The demographics of my school consist of 65% Black students, 30% Hispanic or Latino students, 2% White students, 11% English language learners, and 33% of students who have special needs.
Most students come from low-income households or live in foster homes and shelters.
Many families are single-parent households and working families. We are a Title I school in Harlem. All of our students receive complimentary breakfast and lunch daily. The students at my school are a mixture of different types of learners. My students come from a diverse community.
My hope is for all the students at my school to get the materials they need throughout the whole school year!
My Project
Students need coats! In previous years, there were organizations that donated coats to our students, but this year they wanted the school to pay for them. Many students are still wearing coats from previous years. Some of these coats are worn out. The students in my school deserve to wear new coats to keep warm during the winter. Coats are a necessity and some of the students and their families are not fortunate enough to have the means to buy them new ones, especially after being home for the majority of the winter season last year.
Students need coats to help them stay warm from the elements, and prevent the possibility of them being sick during the school year and consequently missing school.
Please help in this effort to supply our Pre-K students with coats, as they will ensure our students will make it to school and stay healthy so they don't miss out on learning.
