Ms. Kimbrough from Waukegan IL is requesting lab equipment through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.

Future Scientist At Work

Help me give my students science inspiration! Lab coats for current and future students will be used during science lessons. We do use a great variety of materials, liquids, and chemicals, and students need to protect their uniforms.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are a diverse group of students. They are a make up of many different races and cultures. Ethnicities include black, Filipino, and many latino / hispanic cultures. They make my days of instruction fun and exciting.

My students are special to me because despite their situations, they come to school showing great effort to learn their lessons and achieve, and I love this about them.

They make me proud everyday! They deserve any experience I can provide to them. Thank you.

My Project

The lab coats make a very big difference in my students' learning. I typically ask students to bring in an old unwanted shirt to wear over their uniforms so that they can participate in activities. Depending on the materials we're using, students cannot participate in actual experiments if they do not have protective clothing. They can only observe. That's no fun. Often, many of the students are so impoverished, they don't have old clothes that they don't wear lying around, nor can a parent provide something not used. These lab coats stay in class, and ensure all students can participate everyday.
