While they are sometimes misunderstood as distractions, research and classroom experience show that fidgets can actually improve focus, self-regulation, and learning outcomes when used appropriately.\r\nMany students, especially those with attention challenges, benefit from small, repetitive movements that help them stay engaged. Fidget tools—such as stress balls, fidget spinners, or textured objects—provide a controlled outlet for this need. Instead of tapping pencils, shifting constantly in their seats, or becoming distracted, students can channel their energy into a quiet, non-disruptive activity. This often results in better concentration on lessons and tasks.\r\nFidgets can also help reduce anxiety and promote a sense of calm. In a classroom setting where students may feel pressure to perform, having a simple tool to occupy their hands can make a significant difference. When students feel more relaxed, they are more open to participation, collaboration, and learning.\r\nIt is important, however, that fidgets are introduced with clear guidelines. They should be used in a way that does not distract others or interfere with learning. Teachers can set expectations, such as using fidgets quietly, keeping them at desks, and ensuring they support—not replace—active engagement.\r\nOverall, fidget tools are not toys but learning supports. When used thoughtfully, they can help create a more inclusive classroom environment where all students have the opportunity to succeed and stay focused.","fullyFundedDate":1773679219947,"projectUrl":"project/focus-fidgets/9959017/","projectTitle":"Focus Fidgets","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Padlock","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10036468_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1761343644872","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/jennifer-padlock"},{"teacherId":10036468,"projectId":9973711,"letterContent":"Binders are a simple yet powerful tool that can make a meaningful difference in the classroom. They help students stay organized by providing a dedicated place to store notes, assignments, handouts, and important materials for each subject. Instead of dealing with loose papers that can easily get lost or damaged, students can keep everything in one structured system.\r\nOne of the biggest benefits of using binders is that they encourage good organizational habits. With dividers and labeled sections, students can quickly find what they need, which saves time and reduces stress. This is especially helpful during busy school days or when preparing for tests and exams.\r\nBinders also support better learning. When materials are organized, students are more likely to review their notes regularly and keep track of their progress. This can lead to improved understanding of the subject matter and better academic performance overall.\r\nAdditionally, binders promote responsibility and independence. Students learn to manage their own materials, keep track of assignments, and stay prepared for class. These are valuable skills that extend beyond the classroom and into everyday life.\r\nIn conclusion, binders are more than just school supplies—they are tools that help students stay organized, focused, and successful. By using binders effectively, students can create a more productive and less stressful learning environment.","fullyFundedDate":1773679222811,"projectUrl":"project/student-organization/9973711/","projectTitle":"Student Organization","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Padlock","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10036468_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1761343644872","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/jennifer-padlock"},{"teacherId":9904699,"projectId":9943900,"letterContent":"Our new Comix Sticky Easel Pad has quickly become one of the most useful tools in our classroom. Together, we brainstormed examples and wrote them on the easel pad, and the students were excited to see their ideas displayed on the wall. It helped them better understand the lesson because they had a visual reminder to guide them while they practiced.\r\n\r\nWhen my students first saw the materials, they were genuinely excited. They loved watching our ideas come to life on the big paper, and many volunteered to write or draw examples for the class. Having a space where their thoughts are valued made them more confident to participate, especially those who are usually hesitant to speak up. The easel pad has made our classroom feel more collaborative and engaging.\r\n\r\nAs we continue our learning journey, we plan to use the easel pad for group brainstorming, writing activities, and problem-solving in different subjects. Thanks to you, our Speech Room Library has grown tremendously, and your support is already making a meaningful difference for my students. \r\n\r\nDuring speech sessions, books can be one of the most powerful teaching tools. We use them to target a wide range of skills, including speech sounds, answering comprehension questions, identifying details and the main ideas, describing, building vocabulary, making predictions and inferences, improving speaking fluency. Reading in the speech room is interactive and supportive. During small group sessions, we take turns reading aloud, discuss the story together as we go, and learn that it's okay to ask for help when we encounter challenging words that are unfamiliar.\r\n\r\nI have already seen how finding the \"right\" book can spark a child's love for reading. One example that specifically stands out is a 4th grade student who has struggled with reading in addition to her speech-language difficulties. Last year, her teachers shared that she often would not even try to read out loud because she didn't feel confident. This year, we began using \"Who Would Win?\"/\"¿Quién Ganará?\" books to work on comprehension, vocabulary, comparing and contrasting, and making predictions and inferences. Almost immediately, her confidence grew. She is now the first student in her speech group to raise her hand to read aloud, and she appears confident as she sounds out words. She's also comfortable asking for help when she comes across a word she doesn't know. She has shown so much growth in her reading skills and her confidence, she just needed the right book to help bring it out of her.\r\n\r\nAfter just our second lesson using these books, she told me how much she loved them and asked when we get to read more of them. Thanks to your donation, we now have many more titles in the series, allowing us to enjoy even more \"Who Would Win\" days. Each resource has found a meaningful place in our daily routines and projects. The reusable water bottles have been a game-changer during our movement-based lessons and outdoor activities. Students now have their own bottles, which keeps them hydrated and ready to focus. During our recent science walk outdoors, they proudly carried their colorful bottles, comparing designs and sharing observations without worrying about spills.\r\n\r\nThe cartoon gel pens instantly sparked joy. When students first saw the assortment of fun designs, they rushed to pick their favorites and immediately began writing notes to one another. We used them in a creative writing activity where each pen \"character\" inspired a short story. The pens turned writing into play, and even reluctant writers leaned in.\r\n\r\nThe natural lip balms have provided comfort and care during the dry winter months. Students were thrilled to choose their own scent, and it became a small ritual of self care before diving into group work. It's a subtle but powerful way of showing them that their well-being matters.\r\n\r\nOrganization has also improved thanks to the adhesive pencil holders. Clipboards and desks now have designated spots for pencils and markers, reducing the constant \"Where's my pencil?\" interruptions. During a math station rotation, students noticed how much smoother transitions were when supplies were right at hand.\r\n\r\nStickers have become a celebration tool in our classroom. Students earn them for risk-taking in discussions, helping peers, or showing persistence. One memorable moment was when a student who usually hesitates to share proudly spoke up in science, and the class erupted in cheers as she chose her first motivational sticker.
