My Students

Over seventy percent of my students come from low socioeconomic backgrounds. This means alot of them have less access to books in their household. When they come to the classroom they need a variety of literature to choose from and a large quantity. In second grade students can go through 10-20 books a week depending on their level. This means a large library is essential and I want to offer my students a many types of books to ensure they can continue to grow as readers.

My Project

To become a good reader you need one thing: practice To practice the must have books as their fingertips. As a first year teacher my library is limited and my students are reading faster than I can supply. By offering a comfortable environment to sit and a variety of books on different levels and content, my students will have the resources they need to continue to grow as readers. Every students must have ample access to books if they are expected to read fluently and accurately. These books will help create an area that can provide the tools they need.
