This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Wow! I cannot believe that I am almost finished with my fourth year of teaching. Time sure does fly by when you are doing something that you love. I teach kindergarten, and I have such an amazing group of superheroes this year! I have been blessed with such smart, caring, and affectionate students.
My students attend a public Title I school where we serve military and non-military students.
At times, my students may not have what they need, but they come to class excited and eager to learn. My superheroes are unique in their own abilities and what they bring to the classroom. They work together as a team, and together they have tackled the obstacles of learning how to read, write, and add and subtract. I am proud of the leaders that have emerged in my classroom.
I strive to create a classroom that is hands-on, engaging, safe, and fun. I strive to give my superheroes every experience that is at my disposal. They are what push me to be the best teacher that I can be! They have truly left an imprint on my heart.
My Project
My superheroes love to paint! It doesn’t matter if it’s free choice or illustrating characters and settings from the stories that we’ve just read. My goal is to create a space next year where my future superheroes can paint their hearts out! Our county is all about the four Cs: Collaboration, Cooperation, Critical Thinking, and Creativity. Through the art center, I plan on focusing on creativity.
Pablo Picasso once said, “Every child is an artist,” and by giving my superheroes access to the art center, I am allowing them to find their inner artist.
In order for them to create, I need the art center from Kaplan. It holds paper, paint, and brushes. It also has a place to clip their artwork while it dries. The art center is an all in one center that accommodates four students at one time. I also need paint, brushes and paper for them to create their masterpiece. The no spill containers fit perfectly in the art center bins, and prevent paint spills. This is extremely important as kindergarteners are usually messy. Speaking of messy, the aprons are needed to keep school clothes nice and clean!
I am excited about the direction I am going this school year! Each center I am incorporating will be fun, engaging, and hands on. The art center will be perfect to blend learning and fun! Thank you all for taking this journey with me!
