I teach in a high-need community. Many of my students come from low economic families. This is a diverse ethnic group of students.

I would really like for my students to learn to use a camera and photograph their art. Besides just carrying their artwork home and taping it to the refrigerator, I would like my students to learn to create an iphoto book, including artist's statements about several pieces of their artwork. The students will create a compilation of their work.

With a camera and CD's, I will teach basic photography, iphoto software, and art analysis through this project. The students will build their self esteem through the creation of a coffee table style book in iphoto software. I can print their books on the premises, so each student can take home their personal spiral-bound book and have a CD copy of all of their artwork they produced during the school year. I will be covering the subject areas of technology, fine art, and literature.

Your help in making this possible for my students will increase their knowledge of technology through the use of a camera and software. With this project my students will be incorporating several of the 21st Century skills that advocacy organizations are stressing for our students to know.
