Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
All my students love to use all sorts of manipulatives. Hands-on learning is an optimal asset as we work in Math Centers and Differentiated Guided groups. My students are English Language Learners and would greatly benefit from having means of learning other than through listening and watching demonstrations. Your donations will boost their math comprehension and English proficiency and provide kinesthetic support.
Students learn best when they can operate the product with tactile sensory.
The manipulatives include dry erase paddles, graph mats organizers, equivalent fractions, and more. Using the manipulatives will engage the learners and help them stay focused on the task. If the students can focus on the tasks, they will be learning and building stamina.
Our school is in the great city of Chicago. Nearly all my students come from low-income families and have limited resources such as math material at home to practice. Aside from their family struggles, the students are happy and are ready to learn. I am very grateful to have this group of new learners. They are an incredible group of students.
My Project
The math manipulatives will enhance student engagement as they develop fundamental skills. The dry erase paddles will surely be used on a daily basis and enourage engagement. Seriously, I haven't met a child who doesn't love dry erase markers! Students will be able to easily access the dry erase content, which will be organized in an easily portable supply center — allowing the students and me to venture away from the tables and work in different areas of the classroom. I have requested the supply organizer.
The math manipulatives will make a difference in the student learning process.
It helps differentiate according to learning style, allowing all learners to develop a practice based on their ability. It is also an easy way for me to access their comprehension of select strategies in a small and whole group.
The material selected offers methods from first, second grade, and third grade aligned to Common Core expectations. The math manipulatives will serve as sensory reinforcement and are sure to be a hit at Math Centers and small guided instruction.
