Future Knitters Create With Tools and Storage

Help me give my students the tools to knit and store their work! A wide range of needles lets us get creative. More importantly, between classes we need storage boxes that keep bugs and dust out!

My Project

Urban Academy is a small NYC public school dedicated to Inquiry based learning. Our multi-aged, heterogeneous classes use student interest as an entry point to exploring subjects in-depth. Students rely on one another as much as on us teachers to engage in vibrant discussions and hands-on projects. Over the years, we have made it a priority of our program to encourage students to critically analyze instead of just consume.

Through knitting, our students will learn about hands on mathematical patterns, the economics of the fashion industry and the value of labor.

Students will walk away with practical skills. We plan on upcycling old knit materials in order to create new items. The storage bins will help us safely store our materials away from pests and dust between sessions.
