Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Some students were not made to sit still, and I encourage that. My students are in kindergarten and have some special needs. We are located in an urban area. All students receive free breakfast and lunch.
Every day, we start off with our breakfast in the classroom, followed by our morning circle time.
My students love to look at the weather, see who is here, and then talk about their nights. We are building a strong classroom environment one day at a time. My students are hands-on, interested learners with a lot of energy to learn, in all different ways, throughout the day.
My Project
Circle time is great but center time is what runs our classroom. My students love to try out different areas and do fun things while playing pretend. In the morning it is hard to jump into counting and spelling so students want to do something that involves waking up their brain and having fun. I would love to have a pretend kitchen where students can play and interact.
Children learn by doing, it is essential that they are able to try a lot of different activities in a safe space.
Having the wooden kitchen and different food items would allow for several children to play at one time. I think my students would also enjoy a small bbq area where they could play bbq.
