This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I am a special education teacher in a Title I School District. What does this mean? Just about 95% of our students qualify for free or reduced-price lunches. Most of the students have seen more in their short years of life than most people will experience in a lifetime.
Despite the difficulties these children face on a daily basis, they are resilient.
These kids are some of the most hard-working, determined children I have ever met.
"A child with special needs will inspire you to be a special kind of person," anonymous.
My Project
I am the head of the fundraising committee at my school. We do all different types of fundraising events throughout the year in order to raise money for the students to be able to go on trips and have different events.
FUNdraising helps to bring the students in my school a wealth of educational and fun opportunities.
Fundraising is brand new to our school and hasn't taken off the ground just yet. What we have found is that the best way to raise money is by selling candy bars. The money we raise from selling these candy bars will bring a multitude of opportunities to our students that they wouldn't normally have. The funds will go toward educational trips for students in Kindergarten through fifth grade, will help to pay for a behavior incentive trip at the end of the year for 5th grade students, and end of the year celebration for all of the students' hard work and dedication throughout the year, and a promotional celebration for 5th grade students moving on to middle school.
