My Students

My name is Kaleigh Kelso and I teach 5th grade reading and writing in the North Kansas City School District!

I am passionate about students having a place in my classroom to feel comfortable while expanding their knowledge and exercising their creativity.

As we all know, what might be comfortable for one person, may not be comfortable for everyone. For this reason, I am asking for funding to get different seating options in my classroom to meet all my students needs to help them be successful!

My Project

In most classrooms, students are expected to all sit at the same type of desk or table and learn the same way. Research shows that students all learn in different ways and have different motivators. It also shows that the more choice we give students in the classroom, the more likely they are to want to come to school.

Together, we can spark kids' interest in the classroom by providing different, fun seating options where they get to choose what works best for them.

Students will have different options such as wobble seats, stability balls, kneeling pads, seat cushions, and more.

It is my goal to make sure my classroom is up-to-date with the latest classroom research, and funding my goal will help support that!
