My students are a bright and brilliant group of young people that are in the process of learning to truly grow through their education and community. My group of students this year are such a unique group of individuals that have been celebrating each others' differences. I am extremely proud of the community that they are building and have seen them grow tremendously.
The school is located in a lower income area in the silicon valley.
Most of the students at the school receive free and reduced lunch. It is a Title I school in East San Jose, California with a high population of English Learners. Although we are lacking many resources, the fighting spirit found within the teachers and students push us further towards our goals.
My Project
Learning should be fun. It has been taught that the best classroom management is true student engagement. This is the goal of every lesson plan that we teachers ponder over and create. However, with set curriculums, standardized testing, and deadlines to meet, learning may not always be fun and full student engagement, sadly, may not always happen.
This project funds multiple ways to make learning fun, especially during times of review for those oh so nerve racking state tests.
This project makes sure to make learning fun in many different ways, from individual play to small group to whole class learning fun. Some of the materials will be used for review games and lessons. For example, the spin wheel, dice, buzzers, lights, and the eggspert educational insight lights will be used for actual learning game play. Others, like the colorful paper, magnets, markers, and stapler, will be used to create the learning fun. The hole puncher will also help with game set up and will also be beneficial in helping the students stay organized. With these materials I know I will be able to reach every one of my students and be able to scaffold the learning fun to their needs.
