We all remember our favorite classes and teachers. These were the classrooms that had things that we did not have at home, whether it be the love of the teacher, a book we could not get enough of, or a video game. We never forgot how these people and/or things made us feel.
I have a very diverse group of amazing Kindergartners.
My students come from a very high poverty area and attend a Title 1 school. Most are homeless, living in motels or within multi-family homes. They know more about street life then I even do at 29. My students and their school have a bad reputation. People say they are a lost cause but their reputation is so far from the reality of what these amazing students bring to my life daily. They come to school eager to please, learn, and show and feel love. They appreciate every thing you do and hang on your every word.
My Project
The items I have included in my project are resources that I have been wanting to purchase for my classroom but have been unable to. You will notice that I included some games, adapters, tag books and tag readers. In the past, I have purchased the other half of these products but my students have not been able to utilize these items because of the cost of batteries and upkeep. Having these items will allow me to set up more engaging stations and listening centers. I also included some wonderful DVD's from HeidiSongs. I have downloaded some of these videos in the past and they have made a huge difference in the students retention and reading fluency. These videos are extremely fun to dance and sing to and all of my students truly benefit from them.
These donations will help me provide an engaging and efficient learning environment for my students.
Some of these students are only exposed to learning tools at school and as much as I try to provide them with everything I believe would benefit them, I have done all that I can financially. As my students are still very young, we still have time to help them see learning in a positive light. Please help me do so by showing them that I am not the only one that cares about them.
