Functioning Furniture and Organizational Helpers

My students need a privacy partition because we tend to do a lot of independent and critical thinking. Some students benefit from reading things aloud, but it's distracting to others.

My Students

I have a very good group of students who have a great determination for learning. They all have different personalities and of course, different needs. A lot of these students have military parents, and some of them are deployed. They are very strong emotionally to deal with a single-parent situation, and every morning, they come to school with a huge smile, ready to learn.

This is my first year teaching in this wonderful school, and I'm in need of materials to organize my class and to have groups running smoothly with no interruptions.

My Project

During guided reading or guided math, our students take a long time to get to my designated area because they have to bring their own chair. Aside from that, they struggle with room space because their chairs are bulky. The stools would be very useful to minimize the time it takes us to get settled, and the conflicts that may arise from not having enough space between them.

The privacy partitions will be very helpful to avoid distractions when we have independent activities in which students have to practice their critical thinking skills.

Many students use their think aloud strategies, which are very helpful, but at the same time, very distracting to others.

Finally, the reading center pocket chart is a very useful tool to organize my guided reading stations. Students will know what group they belong to, and what activities to do during each station.
