Fun With Xylophones!

Help me give my students for third grade and up, these xylophones so that each student will have one to play in class. This helps them to understand and learn how to read music.

My Students

I teach a large range of students from Kindergarten to eighth grade. I have taught music at this school for 8 years.

As a charter school, the special classes get little funding and a lot of it comes from my own pocket.

I want to make learning music fun,exciting, and hands on for my students.

Our school is growing in student numbers, and I want to have the materials to grow with them.

We are a small school but have been in operation for over 10 years.

My Project

I will use these instruments starting in third grade as I teach my students how to read simple songs. They will use the xylophones to play songs that are projected up on the board and learn to play together as a group with a steady rhythm. Each student will have their own instrument and will be able to not only see the notes they are play, but be able to also hear them as well.

The lessons that are taught in third and fourth grade prepare the students how to read music that is put in front of them and prepares them for when they reach fifth grade and may want to take band.
