My Project
Organizing "Lit Circles" is an effective strategy to motivate young readers. Essentially, they are mini book clubs with 5-6 students per class reading the same book. Then, they break off into their groups to discuss and analyze. Asking fun and engaging discussion questions about contemporary literature is a great way to expand the minds of young people. This project will provide that experience to my students for many years. I teach in a low income school with amazing students, but they are not often excited about reading. Lit circles can begin to foster a positive relationship between students and literature.
