Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My Quetzal classroom is composed of third graders who are learning all core subjects in Spanish (Math, Science, Social Studies, and Language Arts) for the majority of the day, about four hours daily.

My students are an eager group that is excited to acquire as much knowledge as they can!

Whether that is in math, science or Spanish class, it rarely matters as they are all eager to show what they are learning and understanding from their lessons. They always give me their all and work to achieve the high expectations I have for them. Therefore, I need to always be stepping up to the plate to continuously challenge them.

I want to make sure I am providing the best education and experience for my students. This means giving them rigorous material that challenges them, as well as giving them spaces that allow them to work at their comfort and being able to collaborate with their peers.

My Project

Learning is a hard job! Students are constantly practicing their Spanish language as well as working hard to accomplish their math goals. Students go from listening to the teacher, independent work, to group work in minutes in order to complete all the things they have to achieve in one day! So what is the best time during all this learning? Center Time!

I want my students to have fun games and activities during their Spanish and math center time.

They will rotate to various stations that provide them with manipulatives and hands-on learning so that they can consistently practice their subject material in a fun, educational manner! Not every scholar learns the same way, so why should they all use the exact same materials? This project provides them the opportunity to learn the way that best suits them!

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
