Fun! Energetic! Thriving! Smart! Wonderful! Curious! Loving! These are just a few of the words that describe the students I serve every day. They are so deserving of the best education and support!
Most of our students endure trauma, homelessness, poverty, and instability.
Many of them come to school seeking a safe haven. Our counseling program is not the traditional approach that you see at most schools. We work hard to establish an environment of nurture and support for our student's academic and social-emotional needs.
Over the years, we have transitioned to a restorative mindset throughout the school. We know our students need some of their most basic needs met before they can reach the level of learning required to succeed in the future.
Though our students are willing and thriving to learn, there is a lot of unfinished learning. Our counseling team would love to help support them in a way that prepares them to be our future.
My Project
My students depend on experiences to learn new skills and build relationships!
These materials are able to be used in school or at home.
They can be taught in person or virtually. As a counselor, building relationships, teaching social-emotional skills, and giving students hands-on experience is my passion.
When possible, sanitization products help us stay safe during small group sessions. A friendship small group can use the thread for making friendship bracelets. The emotional awareness small group would be creating sewing projects representing their emotions. Writing prompts help students who are struggling with their writing skills. Most of these materials will give them hands-on projects to go along with what they learn in person or virtually.
