Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I have a classroom full of 21 inquisitive students! They are eager to read!
Reading is very important in first grade and I want to have an area to help motivate them with improve in their reading skills.
Many of my students don't spend a lot of time reading at home. I want to create an area in the classroom where they can practice reading with a friend, help one another with sight words, and be able to change positions easily.
Our school is located close to one of the largest military bases in the United States!
I have military students that move from city to city, state to state, country to country and I want to provide an environment they feel comfortable in while they are in my classroom.
My Project
I want to create an area for reading that will fit the needs of various learners. The table can be written on to help the visual learners with sight words. The carpet can be laid on for the learners that need space.
I want the students to have an inviting area to read in various positions.
Right now I have desks with stools around them. The desks make it difficult for students to sit next to each other. The carpet is bland and uninviting. My students would be more motivated to sit and read with a friend in a more appealing area.
