Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The students in my classroom come from a neighborhood that has been struggling socioeconomically for a while. A few of my students have opportunities available to them outside of school while others only have opportunities and experiences that come from inside of the school walls. My classroom is a safe space for all students and I strive every day to make them feel loved and valued.
My students have a love for learning and work hard every day to change their own story as well as the history of their community!
My Project
My students are currently reading non-fiction books and they are very excited to read and learn about all different kinds of things like wild animals and famous people.
My students are so interested about this topic that they came up with the idea of a project that involves working with their families.
They want to select a topic and do some research reading books and using the internet. As a final project, they want to write an all about book about an animal or a biography about a famous person.
My students need lots of grade leveled interesting non-fiction animal books and biographies that they can borrow to take home and read with their families. They also need notebooks to take notes.
These books can give my students and their families the opportunity to read fun interesting books at the students' grade level and together learn many interesting facts.
