This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Our school is a Title l and high poverty school where 100% of students receive free breakfast and lunch. Many go from school to daycare and get home in time to go to bed. Then, get up the next morning and do it all over again. Their caregivers have to work long hours and are not able to give a lot educational support to their children.
Despite the many challenges my third graders face daily, we strive to provide quality education and exposure through extracurricular activities to help them become well-rounded individuals that are productive young citizens of society.
I partner teach a general education classroom where I teach math, science and social studies to two classes. When teaching these students several components are taken into consideration such as learning style, and technology and fluency activities are effective tools to cater to their personal needs.
My Project
Teaching and reviewing math through long distance learning is not easy with third graders especially when many have on a phone to use for their school work. These books will make math not only easier for my students to use, but they are also fun!
I want my third graders to be ready for fourth grade and if each student has one of these books to use, we can work on them when Zooming our classroom together!
I know that I will get much more participation from all of my students by using these books and the multiplication aid will help them better learn their multiplication facts.
