I teach 3 to 5 year-old young children with a variety of intellectual, physical, speech and sensory impairments in our preschool special education program. My students are focusing their time at school on academics, speech, sensory goals and daily life skills to help prepare them for for kindergarten and daily life. Each child had their own individual goals they are working towards and long with preschool standards. The students in my class learn best through hands on experience and play. The children in my class are all children of military service men and women.
Teaching preschool special education my student range in abilities. Each child’s cognitive, fine motor and gross motor are at different levels. But all the student in my classroom to learn through hands on. I like to provide my students with different types of manipulative to use throughout the year. Students in preschool love to build and creative and this items allow my students to be creative no matter their fine motor ability. The items also allow the students to work on colors, shapes and work on social skills while working together to build. I would love this in my classroom.
