I teach English/Language Arts to about 120, 8th grade students. Our curriculum lends itself to open discussion, group projects, and team building. I practice progressivism in my classroom because I want to foster a sense of independence in my students that they can continue to build upon in high school.
My students are bright, inquisitive, funny, and hard working.
I want to be able to provide them with a flexible classroom space that will support all of their learning needs.
My Project
Lap desks, standing desks, and bean bag chairs are great alternative options for students who do not always want to sit at a traditional desk in the classroom. This year, I would like to give my students several options of where they would like to sit in order to engage in the daily lesson.
I view my classroom as an engaging and warm space where students can learn and be comfortable.
I believe that having flexible seating will continue to promote an atmosphere that I value. In addition to seating, I also need timers and a large easel to help keep students on task and aware of the requirements for the day. Please help me make this a reality for my students!
