My students face so many challenges, but they realize that education is the vehicle to drive them towards a more promising future. With so many issues, it is my mission as their educator to take them away and rescue them from their pressing worries through the joys of meaningful experiences and exposure to what life has to offer.
Our Title I school is eligible for 100% free/reduce-price lunch program and we have many students who come from military families, retired and active duty.
We strive to plant seeds of hope and reassure the students that education is the key that unlocks the doors of opportunity and future success.
By understanding that there is more to life than what meets the eye, it is my belief that my students will do what it takes to beat the odds, defy the statistics, and embrace the world of education and all it has to offer.
My Project
5th graders love picture books, too! My library is packed with many great chapter books, but in reality, not all students enjoy reading them. 5th graders are still growing and building up their reading stamina, so often times it is much more enjoyable for them to read a picture book. Picture books help students build up to their reading potential, no matter what the age. Aside from that, the upper grades still LOVE a fun picture book and the lessons that can be taken away from them.
Your generosity will put a variety of new books in my classroom and in these growing readers' hands.
Having fun books for upper-grades students to read helps to create lifelong readers. I hope to send them off to middle school with a passion for reading.
Please help me get my students enjoyable books that will get them hooked on a lifetime of meaningful reading!
