This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students are in one of the best schools in a big, beautiful island in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. Their families hail from many different countries like Chuuk, Pohnpei, Kosrae, Ukraine, Mexico, the Philippines, Marshall Islands, Tonga and Samoa. Many of them are in their last, required year of science from me and I want to give them a very hands-on learning experience to learn about Biology in a fascinating way that transcends rote learning from a static textbook.
I would like to demonstrate the magic of life through growing a diverse array of plants (peat pots) and bringing them together by modeling a sustainable ecosystem (modeling compound) that may be a very valuable learning experience when they leave my classroom and go out into the community.
