I work with an amazing group of 3rd graders who have spent the last two days organizing our newly expanded book collection. They've sorted by author and genre and taken so much responsibility over the project.
The biggest thing we need to finish our project are some organizational items for their new library system.
The bins will provide the much needed storage to keep our classroom library neat and accessible for all my students, with boxes and colored stickers for series, authors, and sections.
In addition, we have been working on learning how to understand and express our emotions and needs as a class. One tool we're wanting to incorporate more are sensory tools for students and safe places to sit when overwhelmed. The fidget toys and flower pillows would be added to the Calm and Safe Place to achieve this goal. I am also looking to add a bulletin board for that corner as well with strategies for emotional health.
