Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are young learners, ranging from three years old about to turn four to young four year olds. My students are learning to sit and listen quietly to a story being read, they are learning to participate respectfully in a group setting, and learning what personal space is all about. The fundamentals of Pre-K are being taught and they are eager to learn.
My students are eager learners that come from many different backgrounds.
They love to be social with one another and are ready to be in school.
Some are read to at home and some learn what being read to is like when they step into my classroom. They have fun personalities and constantly ask questions because of their curiosity of the world around them. They learn the best with hands on creating and learning. My school is a Title 1 school, full of diversity, and located in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
My Project
My students are in need of hands-on STEM activities in the classroom. Lego Education is the best way to reach all of my students. Not only will they be engaged in science, technology, engineering, and math activities, but they will learn the basics of 21st-century education as well.
Communication, collaboration, exploration, extended fun and limitless creativity will deliver engaging and playful learning experiences to every child in my classroom.
The Tech Machines set will introduce my students to basic engineering concepts and develop their fine motor and problem-solving skills. The Our Community Pack allows my students to explore the world through the theme of community as they construct urban environments and role play in real-life scenarios. Students develop their creative and collaborative skills and discuss relevant topics such as community-life, building, transportation, and relationships, as they construct their personal community. The Math Train teaches basic math skills as it explores transportation. They will discover counting, patterning, and simple addition and subtraction in a fun and imaginative way.
