My Students

We are an Autism specific Special Education class at a Title I school. The students in our class see the world through a different pair of glasses. In our school, there is a large special needs population with a heavy emphasis on Autism. Our school services our local military, Barksdale Air Force Base, and many students from various cultural backgrounds. Our students help us to see the world through their eyes.

My students are all 4 or 5 years old and in school for the first time.

Most of my students are non-verbal and have very little to no communication skills.

My Project

Help me give my students magnetic tile blocks. These blocks can be used in a multitude of ways. From free play to building 2D and 3D shapes. We can also use them to foster creativity and cause and effect.

These magnetic blocks will incorporate a multitude of subject areas, as well as foster their imagination.

There are several different ways I plan on using these blocks. From using them for science to teaching about magnetic properties, to using them for math by adding and subtracting to learn skills like bigger and smaller. These blocks will be a great asset to my classroom and with your help I can provide my students with these great learning tools.
