My Students

My fourth graders have the honor and privilege of being selected for our district's talented and gifted program. Their ability to grasp new concepts quickly, think critically, and tackle challenges gives them the opportunity to be a part of a unique classroom setting and collaborate with other students who are academically advanced.

My students crave knowledge and appreciate creative learning experiences.

With many of them underprivileged and barely ever venturing out of the city they call home, they don't always get to experience all the world has to offer. They inspire me to find ways to teach them about culture and society, history and science, people and places, without ever leaving the classroom.

My Project

In order to teach the rigorous standards in my fourth grade curriculum, I need to give my students hands-on learning experiences that allow them to become life long problem solvers. Through science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics investigations, they are truly able to grasp concepts from many subject areas and apply them to real world situations.

Our use of the "Mystery Science" curriculum allows students to make discoveries through engaging STEAM activities.

We need supplies to complete these lessons! Students will build cars to explore how energy makes things go, investigate how energy is stored by experimenting with a model roller coaster, and design flashlights to see how electrical energy requires a circuit.

The materials that we will use for hands on STEAM lessons will provide meaning and engagement to my students' learning!
