Due to severe budget cuts in an already struggling district, teachers at my school are in need of many resources to help us cover the curriculum. Storyworks magazines are AMAZING, because not only do they provide rich print resources for our students, but they give teachers access to lesson plan ideas, companion videos, and connections to the common core standards. Imagine traveling on the Titanic, visiting an active volcano, or experiencing the effects of a tornado. My students feel transported to these situations when they read Storyworks articles and stories. They gain knowledge about history and current events, engage in interesting stories and plays, and practice key reading and writing skills- all through the use of this one magazine! With a Storyworks magazine subscription, my students will each receive six magazines throughout the year. They will be provided with opportunities to read meaningful texts, build writing skills, be wowed by amazing photos and videos, and make connections to science and social studies- all key components to the education of my talented and gifted students. The use of these magazines can bring life to my ELA lessons on a daily basis!
