My cheery classroom is filled with inquisitive, curious, hard-working Kindergarten and First Grade students! Each one of these wonderful young people faces the challenge of learning with a diagnosed disability.
This family of learners is making steady progress with the support of innovative teachers and teaching materials.
Students with memory challenges, attention and focusing difficulties, and self-control struggles have to work that much harder to learn and progress. I am proud of them each and every day for their perseverance!
My Project
This set of four sand and water sensory exploration tables will benefit my students in a multitude of ways... first, having a set of four distinct tables will allow my young students to immerse themselves in a calming sensory experience that will meet their own individual sensory dynamic. Second, I can use the tables to provide hands-on science exploration activities such as creating "snow" for an imaginative play experience or observing a decomposing pumpkin with 4 of their 5 senses (we will avoid "taste"!) or even getting a close up look at a bird's nest. The possibilities for classroom use are endless!
