Full Bellies, Full Minds

Help me give my students a full belly and some hands-on ways to learn science. This year is the first year our school is back to paying for lunches and groceries are so expensive.

My Project

With no more free lunches in my district and groceries so expensive students are coming in on a daily basis with empty bellies, a good portion of my request is for snacks to fill this void. It is so hard to learn and concentrate on an empty stomach. Fidgets were also requested for the social-emotional component. I have found fidgets help my students stay focused on the abstract concepts of chemistry. Science manipulatives and calculators were the final part of my request as they both accelerate learning. Many students in my district do not have their own calculators and my class ones have continued to go missing. Then the manipulatives are a good way to visualize the abstract concepts in chemistry.
