This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

The Need: At our school, many students face the challenge of staying focused and engaged throughout the day, especially when hunger strikes. Proper nutrition is essential for both physical and mental well-being. Unfortunately, not all of our students have access to healthy snacks during the school day, which can lead to fatigue, irritability, and difficulty concentrating in class. This not only affects their academic performance but also their mental health.

The Solution: We are seeking to provide a variety of nutritious snacks to our students to help them stay energized, focused, and in a positive frame of mind.

Healthy snacks like fruits, nuts, and granola bars can significantly impact students' mental health by helping to stabilize their mood, reduce stress, and improve their overall well-being. With your support, we can ensure that no student goes hungry and they have the fuel to succeed academically and emotionally.

Our Goal: To acquire a semester’s worth of healthy snacks for our students. These snacks will be available in designated areas around the school, including the counseling office and classrooms, so students can easily access them whenever they need a quick, nutritious boost.

Impact on Mental Health: Research indicates that a well-balanced diet, including healthy snacks, is closely linked to improved mental health outcomes. By providing our students with consistent access to nutritious snacks, we can help reduce the anxiety and irritability that often come with hunger. Additionally, having these snacks available creates a supportive environment where students feel cared for, reducing stress and promoting well-being.
