Fueling Hungry Minds and Bringing Math to Life

My Project

Every day, my students come to school eager to learn, but not every child comes with a snack to help them make it through the morning. Snack time comes just before our math block, and for many students, that small snack makes a big difference in their ability to focus, participate, and solve challenging problems.

The snacks from this project will ensure that every student has access to a snack, even if they were unable to bring one from home.

When students aren't distracted by hunger, they are better able to concentrate, think critically, and actively participate in math lessons. A simple snack can provide the energy they need to stay engaged and confident throughout one of the most important parts of our school day.

This project also includes a thermal printer that will transform the way my students interact with math every day. Instead of spending valuable instructional time copying lengthy word problems from the board, I will be able to quickly print daily math problems for students to stick directly into their math notebooks. This allows students to spend more time solving, discussing, and explaining their mathematical thinking rather than simply copying text.
