Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

In our diverse and resilient student population, many of our learners face the daily challenge of hunger and poverty, compounded by the complexity of adapting to a new language and culture as English Language Learners (ELLs). To address their unique needs, we plan to utilize the provided snacks strategically during small group and individual counseling sessions. These sessions offer a safe space for students to share their experiences, express their emotions, and develop essential coping skills. By incorporating snacks into these sessions, we not only ensure that our students' basic nutritional needs are met but also create a supportive environment where they can focus on building resilience and thriving academically and socially.

In addition to nourishing their bodies, these snacks serve as a tangible symbol of care and support, reinforcing the message that our school community is committed to their well-being.

Through intentional use in counseling sessions, we aim to empower our students to overcome the barriers they face, both in and out of the classroom, and to foster a sense of belonging and resilience that will guide them on their journey to success.
