My Students

Spreading Joy in high school, no easy task. As a school community, we want to create a positive school culture. We have a great group of students at CAHS, who want the best for their future. Being a small school, a majority of our students are involved in sports and extra curricular activities. Most of them also work to help support their families while in high school. They do face barriers associated with poverty, as we have a majority of students who receive free and reduced lunch.

My Project

I would love to be able to provide healthy snacks for my students who can't afford to buy their own snacks to bring to school. Many students don't eat breakfast for one reason or another. Over fifty percent of our students receive free or reduced lunch. This could be preventing them from being able to bring a snack to school. Students could benefit from having a snack in the morning or afternoon in between meals. When students are fueled up, they focus better! Removing simple barriers such as this can make a real difference in a student's school day and learning environment.
