This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
As a teacher in a low-income and high poverty school district, I want to provide my 28 students with many learning opportunities. Our school is a public school that houses grades first through eighth, right outside of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
We are located in a Title I school, and 100% of the students receive free breakfast and lunch.
My students thrive when given attention and positive reinforcement. They are energetic, curious, and motivated to learn and soak up all the information surrounding them.
My Project
Our school is 100% free breakfast and lunch but sometimes students do not make it to school on time to receive breakfast or they might leave early and not get lunch.
Many of our students rely on free breakfast and lunch because that might be their only two meals of the day.
Funding this project would allow me to have breakfast and snacks available to students that might have missed breakfast in the morning because they had to rely on themselves to get to school and were late because of that. As you can imagine not having a full stomach greatly affects their ability to complete assignments in the classroom. Also, funding this project would provide me with some sweet treats that can be used as incentives. Incentives are always great to create a little motivation.
